My Princess Danielle

We were at the Marina Barrage on a late Saturday afternoon. When we planned to leave, we sighted a double rainbow. At the begin the rainbow was not so clear as you see in the picture. Just as we decided to leave as it getting dark, the sky began to clear and a full arc rainbow appearred. Not only that. there were 2 rainbows. What a breathtaking sight. It is my first time seeing a full arc rainbow. Rainbow signifies the convenant of God that He love us. From this rainbow sight, I felt that God is telling me this:"You need to take awhile to witness the blessings that are coming. At time you may not have a clearer picture of what you be going through. But, as you continue to stay on course, the blessing will just around the corner."

With recommendation from a mother, we are introduced to this art probe that look like a tooth brush. Danielle is enjoying herself, biting the art probe to ease the itch of her gum. Thanks Ying May!

Eversince Danielle cannot tolerate bolus feed , she has to resort to continuous feeding round the clock 24/7. Through continuous feed, small amount of milk is pump into her stomach on a regular basis. The good side of continuous feed is it helps to take off the feeding load from the caregiver. However, the milk bag which needs daily replacement is rather costly. We did a research on the milk pump available in the Singapore market and tried on 3 different pumps to see how user friendly a they are. We even went to the Internet to search and compare the cost of bring in from US. Finally we settle down with the Kangaroo milk pump, as it's milk bag is the cheapest among other brands. Milk pump rental is not cost effective for long term usage.

I finally find the time and (guts to face the painfully memories )to complete this post... Danielle spent 12 days in children ICU in Dec 2008. She was on high BiPAP settings and was intubated . The intubation experience was a terrifying one. Danielle could not hear herself cry and I could see how fearful she was. Intubation is needed to help Danielle breathe as she is too weak to breathe on her own. The bad side of intubation is she will need a tracheostomy if she cannot be extube. I was so worn out by the multiple hospital admissions and Danielle’s degenerating condition, that I am near to giving up this little life. I almost want to stop the intubation process because I want to stop the pain on both Danielle and me…I could not go on… Then God gave me Ecclesiastes 11 and told me that when there is breathe, we gotta help the fragile life to keep going. Through a recommendation from a mother, we visited L, a private practise Physio Therapist. Though it is Danielle's first session with L, Danielle was very comfortable through out the session. For the first time, she able to sit up for a short while. It is a great improvement and Danielle was very happy that she was able to see the surrounding not at the usual lying position. With guidance from L, we were more confident to handle Danielle and help her improve her quality of life. Thanks L! You are our life-saver.
